[Grand Championship] TH:LH vs DE:Raphangelo - 25th Jul 2010
TH:LH vs DE:Raphangelo 25th July, 2010 Background Music: Awakening
LH
once was a bow main who ran a pure sniping build. Now he's back as a
staff main, with a more complicated build, or rather, artistic in my
words. On the other side, Raphangelo was proving himself as a solid
PvPer even though he has a pretty weird build which consists of only 2
melee mercs. At the first glance, we can immediately tell that if Raph
couldn't apply heavy pressure on LH's formation, he would lose the match
right from the very first turns. In the meanwhile, LH's defense line is
very sturdy, which includes all 4 mercs: Monk, Oracle, Punisher and
Empress. Will he be able to hold Raphangelo's pressure team until the
very last minute to advance ?
The match began with nothing too
special. The first notable action was Raphangelo's Melody of Madness on
LH's Empress. Obviously, he was trying to hold LH's defense line from
setting up walls of Holy Guard and Empress Blessing, thus making it
easier for him to prepare for a control attempt in the next turn. In
return, LH showed a very wise choice with the combo of Mana Seal +
Broken Arrow + Forest Prison to deflect Raphangelo's advantage. However,
as he popped out a Purification Scroll at the end of the turn, it
appeared to be pretty useless since there's nearly no harmful effects
could come from Raphangelo's next turn. If this was an Awakening Scroll
or even the rarer Mana Piercings scroll to set up for the next turn, I
would give this turn of LH a perfect score.
Doesn't have much to
do after being disabled completely by LH, Raphangelo can only try to
score some Stun combos in his turn, as he also tried to use the second
Awakening Scroll in a row. LH knew he must do something this turn to
gain a clearer advantage. Right away a massive Flame Blow was casted,
followed by his defense setup. Up to this point, it seemed Raphangelo
was behind very much as he couldn't control well and his team's health
bars were at the dangerous point, given that this was only the 4th turn.
Losing or catching up, it's all about the next two turns. While keeping
the steady stun pressure, Raphangelo tried to disable LH's first row
with Freezing Atmosphere. This was a success as LH cannot fully defend
against that attack. Instead of covering his going-to-be-disabled front
row, he chose to protect his third row. Didn't have enough AP to protect
his team anymore, LH's grave mistake threw all his efforts from the
beginning of the match away.
Succeed in controlling LH this time,
however Raphangelo was still a little bit behind since his team was
damaged so hard by the last Flame Blow. As he tried to save the Exorcist
by moving him back, Raphangelo kept the pressure up by the following
Forest Prison and another stun attempt. After that, LH's late Empress
Blessing came to rescue the melee trio from "prison", however LH didn't
have anymore turns to attack. We can assume that LH was very calm in
this situation as he believed after setting up this perfect defense, he
might be able to destroy his opponent the following turn. Realizing that
potential threat, Raphangelo right away protected his front row with a
Holy Guard, following by a Mana Seal to prevent LH from casting Guard
Dispel. Couldn't do anything better, LH tried to apply some stun
pressure and spikings to Raphangelo. At this point, we can assure that
in LH's next turn, there would be one, or even two mercs fall down. The
situation was turning out to be bad for Raphangelo unless he could do
something to LH's perfect defense. As he swapped his main with the
Princess, Raphangelo was trying to defend his vital point from being
broken, the first row. Luckily for him, since LH had to wasted 3 of his 5
activations to awaken and healing mercs, it was miracle that kept the
Exorcist and Princess alive. The final Mana Seal from Raphangelo's
Exorcist was valuable as it delayed the evil Flame Blow one more turn,
thus saving many of his mercs. Finally, LH was caught up, and the
situation might be even more dangerous if he was to make one more
mistake.
Without able to do anything special, LH could only rely
on his mercs' spiking power to kill off Raphangelo's weakened mercs.
This match was very intense up to this point, and Raphangelo's next turn
would decide everything. And the perfect Empress Curse completely
sealed off any attempts from LH to correct his mistakes. Having no more
offensive mercs alive, all LH could do was a final Flame Blow which
didn't affect the outcome anymore. Raphangelo got the match with his
godly performance, despite starting at a disadvantage. LH lost due to
some grave mistakes, however he proved that his build was very powerful
as it can easily take the lead for the player right from the very first
turns.
